It’s the time of year when it’s tempting to bunker down indoors, away from the wind, rain and cold weather. But while curling up on the sofa with a hot chocolate and a book is a lovely way to spend an afternoon, sometimes you get to a point where you need to get the whole family out for some fresh air.
And right on cue, Which? has named the best national landscapes in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
While many would be lovely for a holiday - the top three are the Northumberland Coast, Dorset and the Causeway Coast - there are some closer to home that would make wonderful day trips this winter.
Cannock Chase has made the cut with a destination score of 65%. From Coventry you can get there in under an hour and there is lots to see and do.
