Amazon is giving shoppers extra flexibility this holiday season with a new, extended return policy now in effect.

For the 2025 holiday season, most items purchased on Amazon between Friday, Nov. 1, and Wednesday, Dec. 31, can be returned through Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026. The change means customers have nearly an extra month to return gifts that do not fit, are unwanted, or simply miss the mark.

Most Apple-branded products are not included in the full extension. They must be sent back by Thursday, Jan. 15, 2026, to qualify for a refund or replacement.

Amazon says, “Easy shopping, simple returns — that's our promise. At Amazon, we're committed to making your shopping experience as seamless and worry-free as possible. We understand that there may be times when a purchase may not meet your expectations or your needs might change. When that happens, we make completing a return simple and convenient.”

Refunds are processed after the item is received by Amazon or a third-party seller and eligibility is confirmed. Depending on the payment method, refunds can take as little as two to three hours for Amazon gift cards, or up to 10 business days for debit cards. Prepaid credit cards may take as long as 30 days.

Some items, such as perishables, customized products, certain digital items, and items marked as “Final Sale,” are not eligible for return. If a non-returnable item arrives damaged or is not as described, Amazon encourages customers to contact Customer Service for help.

To start a return, visit your Order History on Amazon, select the item, and choose the “Return Items” option. Most returns are free and can be dropped off at over 8,000 locations, often without needing a box or label.
