DICKINSON — Any outsider who pulled up the roster sheet on Friday likely raised an eyebrow when they saw a nine next to the grade of Dickinson goalie Kahlan Lopez.
The freshman netminder stood on her head all game, stopping 44 shots in the Mavericks' 5-0 loss to West Fargo United on Friday, Dec. 5 at West River Community Center.
“I thought Kahlan seemed confident this week in practice,” head coach Lance Knudson said. “I think having a game like that, where you have a goalie that keeps you in the game, it’s not only big for Kahlan, but also big for the team. Any time you're a team that has a goalie you can rely on to make some big saves, that makes us feel a bit more confident.”
