MESA, Ariz. (AZFamily) — It’s an exciting weekend in Mesa! For the first time in 30 years, the community is getting a brand new, full-service public library.

The Gateway Library is now open and there is a grand opening Saturday, December 6th starting at 10 a.m.

Erin Jones, the branch coordinator, says it took about a year and a half to build. It’s located at 5036 S. Eastmark Parkway.

Jones says this area of southeast Mesa is growing rapidly, with many more kids and older people moving in, and before construction, there were no convenient library services nearby.

The library is a 28,000-square-foot space with more than just books. Jones tells Arizona’s Family that the building’s design and architecture really set it apart, as well as the technology and services for families.
