TEXAS, USA — East Texas fire departments were awarded more than $3 million through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program this week for equipment and training.

On Friday, the Texas A&M Forest Service approved $17.6 million in funding to award 687 fire and rescue equipment grants and 66 dry hydrant grants to Texas volunteer fire departments. This was part of the second round of equipment grants for Fiscal Year 2026 on Dec. 5.

Fire departments in East Texas received $3,269,600 of that funding. Check out a breakdown below:

Angelina County

Central Volunteer Fire Department – $25,000 for fire and rescue equipment

Diboll Volunteer Fire Department – $25,000 for fire and rescue equipment

Fuller Springs Volunteer Fire Department – $25,000 for fire and rescue equipment
