A 13-year-old schoolgirl from Akola city in Maharashtra was found dead at her home, having allegedly taken her own life after being harassed by a senior student at her school.

The girl’s family has accused the senior student of repeated molestation, stalking, and sending persistent messages on Instagram, prompting police to register a case against the minor boy for abetting suicide.

According to police, the girl returned home from school on Friday and went to her room on the second floor, locking the door from inside. When her family failed to get a response despite repeated calls, neighbours were called to break open the door. She was found hanging and rushed to hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.
