Visitors to hospitals in the greater Glasgow area have been asked to wear face masks amid a flu outbreak.

Bosses at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) have said they are currently seeing a rising number of patients with symptoms of flu. While staff are doing all they can to address these challenges, the health board is asking visitors to help reduce the spread of the virus and to minimise the risk to vulnerable patients.

In response to advice from the Infection Prevention and Control Teams, all visitors to hospitals, and all clinical staff, have been asked to wear Fluid Resistant Surgical Masks – similar to those used during the Covid pandemic – at all times while they are on hospital grounds.

The situation will remain under review.
