LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The insurance company State Farm has filed a motion to intervene in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Sherry Ballard, the mother of Crystal Rogers, the Bardstown woman who went missing over ten years ago and is presumed dead, is currently suing Brooks Houck. Houck was convicted of Rogers’ murder in July and is now serving a life sentence.

Ballard filed the lawsuit in November of 2023, after Houck was charged with Rogers’ murder but prior to his conviction. The original motion shows Ballard, as the administrator of Rogers’ estate, was seeking wrongful death damages for but not limited to “Reasonable and necessary funeral, monument and administrative expenses; Physical pain and mental suffering experienced by the decedent before her death; Lost earnings incurred by the dec
