Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse will hire Toledo defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Vince Kehres to fill the same position, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel .

Kehres was a candidate to follow Toledo head coach Jason Candle to Connecticut, replace Candle as head coach of the Rockets and to fill the defensive coordinator opening at Nebraska, according to FootballScoop . He chose to replace Elijah Robinson , who may be joining Louisiana State’s staff as defensive line coach, instead.

Syracuse will also hire Michigan analyst Juan Castillo to replace Dale Williams as offensive line coach, according to Thamel.

Kehres coached 31 All-MAC selections at Toledo in six seasons with the Rockets.
