Falmouth firefighters responded to a structure fire early Saturday evening. Fire officials reported that two animals died in the fire.
Falmouth Lieutenant Jeffry H. Waggett said firefighters arrived at 15 Davisville Road to heavy fire showing from the building. Waggett said the firefighters went on fire attack and attempted to rescue a canine and a feline from the dwelling and were unsuccessful, as the animals had already died. Waggett said the firefighters tried CPR on the animals and were unsuccessful.
Waggett said firefighters did an initial search and did not find any victims, and that the fire was contained to the first floor of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
