When Japanese naval aircraft attacked the U.S. base at Pearl Harbor and other military installations on Dec. 7, 1941, at least 31 Michigan service members were killed, including one who received the Medal of Honor for his actions that day.
On Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, Dec. 7, 2025, U.S. and Michigan flags are flying at half-staff in honor of the more than 2,000 service members who died that day and the thousands of others who were involved in the surprise attack.
