Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the Indian armed forces deliberately chose a calibrated and "restrained" response during Operation Sindoor , despite having the capability to inflict far greater damage on terror networks across the border.

Speaking at an event in Leh, the Defence Minister said the armed forces had shown exemplary discipline in limiting their actions to the intended objective.

"Of course, we could have done much more had we wanted, but our forces demonstrated not only valour but also restraint, doing only what was necessary," he said. He added that "the world knows what they did to the terrorists," asserting that the operation had been executed with precision.

The operation was launched on May 7 to target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occu
