Last night, Lisa Riley, known for her role in Emmerdale, became the eighth celebrity to leave the I'm a Celebrity jungle. She exited alongside reality star Jack Osbourne in a surprising double eviction. While Lisa often appeared cheerful and supportive in camp, she revealed that her time in the jungle was not without its challenges.
The 49-year-old actress admitted to feeling "alone" and "vulnerable" at times, despite being surrounded by fellow contestants. She shared that during her lowest moments, she sought solace by the creek, where she spoke to her late mother, Cath. "I was like, ‘mum, I need some strength. I need to get through. I'm struggling, and I am finding things really hard,'" she recounted.
Lisa described her toughest experience in the jungle as the aftermath of a particularly gruesome fish gut challenge. She felt immense pressure to perform well and contribute to the camp's food supply. "We were getting hefty numbers. No one got less than six stars. And I'd done really well. I got a mega number," she explained. However, the stress of the competition took its toll on her mental state.
After returning from the trial, Lisa found herself in a difficult situation. "We'd left the camp so quickly that morning, I hadn’t prepared any clean clothes. I had nothing. Everything I had was saturated," she said. This led to a moment of despair as she sat alone, feeling overwhelmed and uncomfortable.
Her campmate Ruby Wax noticed her struggle, stating, "baby's lost her smile," which highlighted the depth of Lisa's emotional state. Fortunately, her fellow contestants provided support, helping her regain her spirit. "In the toughest times, I was always the one to make people feel better. But Martin was there, Jack was there for me, Ruby... the boys, I mean, those lads," she said, expressing gratitude for their encouragement.
Despite the challenges, Lisa reflected positively on her experience in the jungle, stating it was "everything I wanted it to be and so much more." She also revealed that she lost 20 pounds during her time in camp, attributing it to a combination of portion control and physical activity.
Lisa also shared her light-hearted admiration for host Ant McPartlin, calling him "juicy" while affirming her happiness in her long-term relationship with fiancé Al. "I'm a flirt. I flirt with everybody. That's who I am. I'm not going to stop," she said, emphasising her secure relationship.
Throughout her time on the show, Lisa was praised for her openness about her mother's death and her journey to sobriety. She encouraged fellow campmate Jack to share his own experiences, demonstrating her supportive nature. Lisa concluded by expressing her desire to remain relatable, saying, "I'm fish and chips to a fault and long may that be the case."
Lisa Riley's journey in the jungle has showcased her resilience and ability to connect with others, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
