As we reported in September, "Reading Rainbow" has a wonderful new host, Mychal Threets, a former Solano County librarian and bookworm who grew up watching the beloved children's show with LeVar Burton as host. The show premiered again with Threets on October 4, 2025, after a twenty-year hiatus, and it's also rebooted its iconic theme song.

CBC explains that the original theme song was written by Steve Horlick, Dennis Neil Kleinman, and Janet Weir for the show's 1983 debut. Broadway star Tina Fabrique sang it for sixteen years, followed briefly by Bahamian singer Johnny Kemp, and finally by Chaka Khan until the show ended in 2006.

Nigerian Canadian singer Bukola recently re-recorded the uplifting tune. Currently living in Vancouver, she also grew up watching Reading Rainbow with her sist
