One person is dead in a shooting early Sunday in Charleston.

The Charleston Police Department confirmed a man was fatally shot at around 2 a.m. in the 800 block of Main Street on Charleston's West Side, near the Luna Park neighborhood.

In a Sunday afternoon news release, police said Joshua Walls, 31, of Charleston, was fatally shot in a residence.

"Upon arrival, officers located the victim ... with a gunshot wound to the abdomen," the release says. Walls was transported to a local hospital, where he later died, according to the release.

Police say the victim and the suspect, Jack Rolfe, 33, of St. Albans, got into a verbal argument inside the residence. The suspect then pulled a gun and shot the victim. The suspect left the scene in a suspected white Ford Fusion sedan.
