SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - The fun doesn’t stop at Springfield hockey games! ... and Saturday was no different as the Thunderbirds held their 10th annual annual Teddy Bear Toss before a sold out crowd.

Thunderbirds fans brought their new or gently used teddy bears to the game Saturday night at the MassMutual Center, tossing stuffed animals onto the ice after the T-Birds scored their first goal.

The event, presented by Teddy Bear Pools and Spas, collects those teddy bears, thrown in by the community, for local charities and children and families they serve.

Last year a brand new record was set with over 7,000 stuffed animals collected.

As far as this years total goes, stay tuned! Western Mass News is still waiting to hear how many were collected at Saturday night’s game.
