The Steelers offense hit the Ravens where they least expected it, and it played a huge factor in their 27-22 win at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday afternoon. It’s a contrast to a big part of what led to the team’s downfall in their five-game losing streak after starting last season 10-3, with two of those losses coming to the Ravens in the same stadium.
Last year, Ravens defensive coordinator Zach Orr was seen on HBO’s “Hard Knocks” saying the Steelers offense with Russell Wilson was only “layups and 3-pointers” before the two teams met for a rematch on Dec. 21 in Baltimore. The phrase noted the Steelers’ lack of success in intermediate passes, which played a big role in how the Ravens won that game 34-17, as well as the eventual playoff meeting — also in Baltimore — 28-14.
