OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. —

The Airman's Attic at Offutt Air Force Base has expanded its annual Santa's Workshop, significantly increasing its capacity to provide toys and support to families on base during the holiday season.

"This year, it's at least three times bigger. And we have typically, we have like four or five donation boxes out in town. This year we had 17," said Catina Nesheim, a volunteer at Airman's Attic.

For the first time, the workshop was able to purchase gifts.

"We able to get some, get a lot of toys. We're probably twice, three times the amount as last year," said Nesheim.

The initiative aims to support families affected by financial strains, such as furloughs and shutdowns.
