The University of Notre Dame has withdrawn from bowl participation following its exclusion from the College Football Playoff.

The Fighting Irish, national title finalists last season, announced that they would forego their bowl game this Sunday.

Notre Dame was the first team to be removed from the bracket. The Miami Hurricanes got the nod over them. James Madison and Tulane also made it in.

They opted out hours after the selections were revealed.

“As a team, we’ve decided to withdraw our name from consideration for a bowl game following the 2025 season,” they announced.

“We appreciate all the support from our families and fans, and we’re hoping to bring the 12th national title to South Bend in 2026.”
