The Crimson Tide coach didn't see any fathomable scenario where the No. 1 seed in the SEC Championship Game, a game Alabama lost 28-7 to Georgia, missed the field for a chance at a national championship.

"I don't know how you can go into a conference (championship) game as the No. 1 seed, and did all these things throughout the year, and playing in this game against one of the top teams in the country, how that can hurt you and keep you out of the playoff?" DeBoer asked.

The CFP committee agreed.
