A fresh appeal to find those responsible for the brutal murder of a pensioner more than four decades ago has been issued.
Esme Hoad was found dead in her home in Havelock Road, Tonbridge, on December 8, 1982, after friends raised concerns when they were unable to reach her.
The 85-year-old who lived alone had been beaten around the head with a blunt instrument and stabbed in the chest.
A significant amount of blood was found at the scene, and officers recovered a distinctive shoe mark believed to have been made by a “Banana” boot.
Despite a detailed investigation at the time, no one has been brought to justice for the killing.
Detectives continue to appeal for any information that could help solve the case 43 years on and bring some closure for Esme’s loved ones.
