Seven of the bridge inspection firms the state is suing for allegedly missing the potentially catastrophic deterioration of the Washington Bridge are still being contracted by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to inspect the state's bridges.

During a marathon oversight committee hearing on Nov. 13 , Transportation Director Peter Alviti was asked, under oath by former U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha, if any of the defendants in the state's lawsuit were still inspecting bridges.
