LAKELAND, Fla. — As state leaders push to keep public university campuses safe, Florida Polytechnic University is now leaning on local law enforcement for help.
The university started using the Lakeland Police Department for security after a major staffing shortage in its campus police force. At least eight officers have left the department since May, including the chief and deputy chief.
