People are being warned about an emerging trend worrying experts in 2025. It is "porch pirates" - and the problem is set to surge this December. A total of £666.5 million worth of parcels has been stolen across the UK in the past year as "porch pirates" capitalise on the Christmas delivery surge. Data secured by delivery technology company Quadient reveals thefts have rocketed by 77% in a year - almost £290m.
December has now emerged as the prime month for parcel crime as lobbies, flat entrances and doorsteps become cluttered with unattended items during the festive period. Gary Winter, Quadient's vice-president of global strategic initiatives, believes theft is evolving into a mainstream criminal
