Billy Ray Cyrus has scored a legal victory against a woman who claimed to be his daughter Miley Cyrus' biological mother.

A woman named Jayme Lee filed a lawsuit in May in which she alleged that she gave birth to the Flowers hitmaker when she was 12 years old and entered into a "private adoption agreement" with the country music singer and his then-partner Tish Cyrus.

According to Lee, all parties agreed that she would get to name Miley - who was born Destiny Hope Cyrus - and work as her nanny and piano teacher.

However, the Cyrus family allegedly cut off all contact and "threatened (her) with police action" after Miley was born in November 1992, causing her "severe emotional distress".

According to legal documents obtained by the Daily Mail, Lee accused Billy Ray and Tish of "breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and unlawful interference with parental rights".

She also requested a supervised DNA test to prove the maternity and paternity of the global pop star.

The Achy Breaky Heart singer filed a motion to dismiss Lee's allegations on 20 November. He branded the claims "false and absurd" and argued that Lee filed the lawsuit for the "purposes of harassing" the family.

Billy Ray's attorney told the publication that a judge dismissed Lee's lawsuit permanently on 5 December and "awarded Mr Cyrus the recovery of his reasonable and necessary attorney's fees and costs".

In addition to Miley, 33, Billy Ray and Tish also share son Braison, 31, and daughter Noah, 25. He also adopted her children, Brandi and Trace, from her previous marriage. Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray in April 2022 after 28 years of marriage.

He is now in a relationship with British actress Elizabeth Hurley, while Tish is married to Prison Break actor Dominic Purcell.

The news comes shortly after Miley confirmed her engagement to musician Maxx Morando after four years of dating.

Celebrating the news, Billy Ray wrote on Instagram, "So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!! Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!! love Dad."
