HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) — A proposal by the Trump administration to remove nursing from the list of professional degrees could create additional struggles for medical care seekers amid an ongoing nursing shortage.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal plans to join nurses at the state Capitol building on Monday to speak out against the proposal. A news conference has been scheduled for noon.

The potential changes would make it harder for someone to get a nursing degree by removing some loans reserved for professional degrees from nursing students, making it more expensive for anyone trying to become a nurse.
