A nonprofit focused on improving hospital safety and quality in the U.S. gave 18 Colorado hospitals an "A" grade in its biennial hospital safety report card .

The report by the Leapfrog Group rates general hospitals from A to F based on their ability to prevent medical errors, infections, accidents and other “avoidable harms.” In all, it gave almost 90% of Colorado hospitals at least a "C" for their safety.

But is the study accurate?

No Colorado hospitals received an "F" grade, but some hospitals receiving "C" or "D" grades contested the ratings. They questioned the study’s methodology and say they were punished for not sending in data requested for the study.
