A flight departing from Edinburgh Airport declared an emergency shortly after takeoff, causing major disruption.
British Airways flight BA1443 to London Heathrow sent a 7700 call after departure.
The flight deck reported to the control tower than the landing gear was stuck down, and after around 35 minutes in a holding pattern the jet was able to land safely back at Edinburgh Airport.
However, with the plane remaining on the runway other flights had to be diverted.
A flight from London Gatwick and one from Amsterdam were both sent to Glasgow Airport , and a Dubai flight was also diverted.
Later NOZ1640 from Oslo was also diverted to Glasgow, before Edinburgh Airport announced it had been forced to suspend all flights due to the only runway being blocked.
