Three people, including a child, were killed when a tractor-trailer rear-ended an SUV stopped in the shoulder of the NJ Turnpike on Sunday, Dec. 7, authorities said.
The crash happened just before 1:40 p.m. at milepost 64.6 on the Turnpike’s SNO roadway in East Windsor Township, according to Tpr. II Christopher Postorino.
A GMC SUV was parked on the right shoulder when a Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by a 33-year-old Philadelphia man, entered the shoulder and hit the back of the SUV, Postorino said.
Elin R. Waithe, 44, of Bloomfield, who had been driving the SUV, was killed, Postorino said. Quacy Waithe, 47, also of Bloomfield, who was in the front passenger seat, and a child in the vehicle were also killed.
No charges were filed as of press time.
