Southeast Michigan residents should prepare for a series of winter weather events over the next several days, with two rounds of light snow, potentially light freezing rain and then uncomfortably cold temperatures arriving by the weekend.
Today’s daytime highs in Detroit and Ann Arbor will struggle to reach the mid to upper 20s, putting temperatures 10 to 15 degrees below seasonal normals as arctic air remains in place. High clouds will move across the region throughout the day.
The first winter weather system arrives overnight into Tuesday morning, bringing snow from west to east between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Surface temperatures will be cold enough for accumulation during the early morning hours.
