Beatles fans around the world were left bereft when dad-of-two John Lennon was fatally shot outside his home in New York 25 years ago.
The much-loved star, 40, had achieved global fame with the Sgt Pepper's stars before going solo in 1969. The musician from Liverpool is widely considered as one of the greatest songwriters of all time. However, his life was tragically cut short when he was killed by Mark David Chapman , now 70, who reportedly told the doorman of John's apartment building: "I just shot John Lennon."
Chapman was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison in 1981 after pleading guilty to second-degree murder. So, as we remember
