Everything we know about the Metrolink tram drivers' strikes
Strike action by hundreds of Metrolink drivers in Greater Manchester is back on after proposals tabled by transport bosses were rejected. Planned industrial action was postponed at the start of December for negotiations, but union Unite said on Monday (December 8) its members had 'overwhelmingly voted to reject the company's proposals for tackling driver fatigue'.
The dispute is over working patterns and rest breaks which union bosses say are causing dangerous levels of fatigue. Unite claims Metrolink drivers 'have the worst driving conditions across the UK compared to other light rail networks' with shift patterns meaning that they work 450 hours over a 12-week period.
Around 320 tram drivers will walkout on Decem
