CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. — Irene Whitehead, 27, is already charged with felony murder and felony child abuse in her 2-year-old daughter's death.
She confessed to killing Ryleigh by suffocating her with a bag, according to court documents. During that interview with detectives, Whitehead also admitted to killing her 2-month-old son, Leo.
He died in 2021. Whitehead said at the time that the child had parainfluenza-4.
That's also what she claimed Ryleigh suffered from, and the child had to be hospitalized multiple times with "breathing episodes."
The Kent County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Ryleigh's death a homicide.
