WAYLAND, Mich. — A man is dead after a car vs. pedestrian crash Monday morning in Wayland.

The Wayland Police Department said the crash happened around 7:20 a.m.

Officers responded to the 1100 block of West Superior Street, which is near US-131, and found a 66-year-old man from Wayland lying in the road.

Police said a car struck the man.

Emergency crews rushed him to the hospital, where he died.

Law enforcement said the crash is still under investigation.

The Wayland Fire Department, Allegan County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police and Wayland Area EMS assisted at the scene.
