The Special Judge, Vigilance, Dhenkanal, today convicted retired Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Abhimanyu Sahoo, formerly posted at Rasol Police Station in Dhenkanal district, in a decade-old bribery case registered by Odisha Vigilance.
Sahoo was found guilty under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(d), Section 7 and Section 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Section 120-B IPC for demanding and accepting illegal gratification from a college student in exchange for releasing his seized motorcycle. The court sentenced him to undergo simple imprisonment for two years and pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
