The family of a 16-year-old boy who died following a stabbing in Glasgow want officers to be given more powers to search young people for knives. Kory McCrimmon's family spoke out after BBC research showed that Police Scotland's use of stop-and-search on under 18s increased by 38 per cent last year.
The teen died in 2024 after being stabbed in the heart by a 13-year-old boy at Greenfield Park in the city's east end, following threats issued on social media. His killer was detained for five years this year after admitting culpable homicide, repots the Daily Record .
Kory's aunt, Jackie McTaggart, welcomed the force's increased use of the stop-and-search to tackle knife crime. She told the BBC : "Our kids are killing each other, and we need to do something."
