FLORENCE, AZ (AZFamily) — Federal immigration officials will join the Pinal County Attorney’s Office on Monday morning for what’s being called a public safety announcement following the department’s formal swearing-in as 287(g) officers.
In a news release, county prosecutors said the move to join the federal immigration enforcement program will provide “training, authority, and federal tools” to find undocumented immigrants convicted of crimes and then removed.
As Arizona’s Family reported, under the 287(g) program, Immigration and Customs Enforcement can partner with local agencies through three models.
