It doesn’t really MATTER that Laufey is from Iceland, but it’s interesting to me. I just put on her album during my last housecleaning day, knowing nothing about her sound, so I didn’t expect the retro-jazz flavor to some of them — and her voice DOES have a sonic quality that kind of makes sense to me now that I know she and Bjork hail from the same land. Maybe it’s hints of an accent, I don’t know. Bjork went to school with Laufey’s father, in fact; I hope they duet someday.
