The Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA)’s “Food for Fare” campaign is back, giving riders a chance to support local families while catching a free ride.

From December 7–11, passengers can ride any CARTA fixed-route bus for free by donating a non-perishable food item. This year, the transit agency has expanded the event to five days and added donation boxes on both the Mocs Express and the free Downtown Shuttles, making it easier for riders to give back during the holiday season.

Last year, CARTA riders and employees collected more than 2,000 pounds of food, the largest contribution among participating partners. Officials hope to build on that momentum to help families across the Tennessee Valley.
