James Maddison has said he has had to accept the fact he is going to be out of action for a long time after undergoing knee surgery.

Tottenham were dealt a major blow during pre-season when scans revealed Maddison had ruptured his ACL during a friendly against Newcastle .

In a statement issued by Spurs , there was no timeframe on how long the midfielder would be out for, but the 29-year-old did reveal in October that he was targeting a return to action before the end of the season .

Maddison was spotted on the grass and having a chat with Thomas Frank in Tottenham’s pre-Slavia Prague training session on Monday before appearing on Sky Sport’ Monday Night Football show to provide a fitness update.
