A major UK train station has been cordoned off this evening following reports of a person being hit by a train.
Services running through Leeds station have been cancelled, delayed or revised with rail operator Northern Railway saying there is severe disruption between Hull and Leeds and York and Leeds.
Posting to X just after 7.30pm, it said: "Due to trespassers on the railway at Leeds, some lines are blocked." Firefighters, specialist police officers and ambulances are at the scene.

Disruption expected until 10pm
Lines are no longer blocked following the incident at Leeds Station, according to Northern Railway. A spokesperson said: "Train services running through this station are returning to normal but some services will still be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 10pm."
The following routes between Leeds and York / Selby are currently disrupted in both directions:
- Leeds - York via Garforth
- Blackpool North - York
- Halifax - Hull

Delays up to one hour
Cross Country Trains have warned of delays of up to an hour due to an incident at Leeds Station.
Posting to X, a spokesperson for Cross Country Trains wrote: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident at Leeds some lines are blocked. Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or diverted via Doncaster."

Delays possibly caused by 'trespassers'
Northern Railway has reported that the delays may be due to "trespassers" on the tracks at Leeds Station.
Posting to X at 7:33pm, a spokesperson for Northern Railways wrote: "Due to trespassers on the railway at Leeds, some lines are blocked. Train services running through this station will be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 21:30. Network Rail and BTP officers are due on site shortly."
The following lines of route are currently being disrupted between Leeds - York / Selby in both directions:
- Leeds - York via Garforth
- Blackpool North - York
- Halifax - Hull
Northern tickets will be accepted on CrossCountry & Transpennine Express services via any reasonable route, until further notice. Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
