A midwife in Timmins has managed to capture the allure of Hersey Lake with her first watercolour paintings. Article content
Katherine Kwietniowski’s work is on display at “Heaven to Me,” the Porcupine Art Club show on now at the Timmins Museum until Jan. 1. Article content Article content
“I love dogs and I love Hersey Lake, it’s kind of like my happy place,” Kwietniowski said at the show’s packed opening reception on Thursday.
She moved to Timmins from Oshawa four years ago, and has three watercolours in the show inspired by the conservation area ten minutes north of Timmins.
“Hersey Lake” depicts her looking out at the lake flanked by her two dogs, Pumpkin and Peppermint.
The lake seems to be rising as though to envelop her, an expression of the ancient history of the land.
