Calgary police said they will continue to step up impaired driving enforcement over the holiday season to keep roadways safe for everyone

The results are in for the Calgary Police Service ’s first police checkstop blitz to target impaired driving over December, with more than 1,000 vehicles stopped over the weekend.

The initiative is in alignment with the Alberta Traffic Safety Calendar. Throughout the month, CPS and their agency partners will be stepping up their enforcement and education efforts through the checkstop program.

Two checkstops were held, with one on Saturday, which was National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day.

The first checkstop along Stoney Trail S.W. and Fish Creek Boulevard saw more than 700 drivers checked.
