TOLEDO, Ohio —
The stretch of Huron Street across from the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority hub is getting upgrades to make traveling safer for bus riders.
"You think about safety and security in the area which is what we're committed to," said Terry Awls, Lucas Metropolitan Housing's director of communications.
Awls says the Huron sidewalk next to Vistula Manor will be improved and more lighting will be installed. Vistula Manor will also get new fencing and an upgraded patio.
Toledo City Council approved the $280,000 project . The funds will come from TARTA's Local Investment in Transit Enhancement funds, which are specifically for upgrading travel experiences.
