Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy shared in an email last week to his constituents the remarks he made in November to The Commercial Appeal, defending his office's use of plea deals as standard for the criminal justice system in the United States.
The newspaper specifically reported that the attorney's office, "found the public's response to plea deals has missed the wider context," and that Mulroy told the outlet most cases generally end with a plea deal.
