DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - A Toys for Tots program is asking for community help after falling short of donation goals needed to serve hundreds of families this Christmas season.
Shackle Free Community Outreach is set to give away toys to almost 400 families on December 20, but Chief Executive Officer Chiquitta Lesene said they can only provide toys to around 50 families right now.
“We’re reaching out for help from our community. We realize they’re generous and have been so helpful, but we needed to call out to solicit more help,” Lesene said.
Lesene adds that this was an issue last year as well. She said factors like the economy and pandemic have added challenges for them over the years.
