The Ontario government’s consolidation of 36 local conservation authorities into seven regional ones — including Quinte Conservation — leaves a lot to be desired in terms of proper public consultation and transparency, asserts Belleville Coun. Kathryn Brown.

On Monday, Brown — one of Belleville’s appointees to sit on Quinte Conservation’s board — raised serious concerns in regular city council session about a lack of transparency around the merger of local authorities to be overseen by a newly created Ontario Provincial Conservation Agency (OPCA).
