A series of winter weather alerts have been issued across upstate New York as a midweek storm threatens to bring several inches of snow, strong winds and hazardous travel conditions.
Winter weather advisory issued in NY
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Southern Erie, Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany counties from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday. Forecasters expect 4 to 8 inches of snow, with wind gusts up to 35 mph. Snow will likely mix with or change to rain at lower elevations early Wednesday, while hilltops may stay snowy until colder air returns in the evening.
Travel will be difficult, especially during the Wednesday morning and evening commutes, with slippery roads and reduced visibility.
