Where?: T he A726 between Righead Roundabout and Eaglesham Road Roundabout will close for three months.

When?: The closure will take place from Monday, January 12, 2026, with continuous single-lane closures stretching for around three months.

What will the works include?: Footways are to be ripped up and relaid with a new cycleway also carved out. A fresh crossing will also be installed while 70 trees will be chopped down to make room for the new bike route. Over 200 trees, will, however, be planted along the East Kilbride route.

Who will still be allowed through the route? Emergency vehicles will still be allowed through, but commuters face weeks of diversions and delays.
