A former UAB offensive lineman accused of stabbing two teammates hours before a game will be allowed to return home to Florida as he awaits trial.
Daniel Mincey, who was a 20-year-old redshirt freshman, is charged with attempted murder of JaSire Peterson and with first-degree assault of Josh Underwood.
Mincey appeared before Jefferson County District Judge William Bell Monday as his attorneys with the Jefferson County Public Defender’s Office asked that he be allowed to return home to Pompano Beach to live with his grandmother.
Mincey has been out of jail on $90,000 bond since.
One of his attorneys, Paul Rand, told the judge that he is no longer on the football team or a UAB student. He is also in the process of being evicted from his apartment.
Bell granted Mincey’s request.
